Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty logged healthy gains on April 23, supported by a rally in banks, financials and IT stocks. Sensex closed the day 484 points, or 1.54 percent, higher at 31,863.08, while Nifty finished at 9,313.90, up 127 points, or 1.38 percent. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices underperformed the benchmark, closing 0.90 percent and 1.35 percent higher, respectively.
