Sensex ended at 38,837, up 164 points, meanwhile, the broader Nifty also rose 45 points to 11,669. In intraday trade, the Sensex rose as much as 442 points to hit an all-time high of 39,115.57. Nifty Midcap index gained 0.3 percent, while Nifty Smallcap index outperformed to settle nearly 1 percent higher. Tata Motors, Hindalco, Wipro, Bharti Airtel, and Maruti Suzuki were the top gainers on Nifty, while, Zee, UPL, IOC, Eicher Motors and IndusInd Bank were the top laggards on the index.
