BPCL, HCL Technologies, Wipro, Infosys and Reliance Industries were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bharti Infratel, Tata Motors, Zee Entertainment, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel. Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices shed 1-1.5 percent.
