The Sensex was down 1,145.44 points or 2.25% at 49,744.32, and the Nifty was down 306.10 points or 2.04% at 14,675.70. About 1030 shares have advanced, 1942 shares declined, and 151 shares are unchanged.Tech Mahindra, M&M, Dr Reddy’s Labs, ITC and IndusInd Bank were major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Adani Ports, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel and ONGC.Except metal (up 1.6 percent), all other sectoral indices ended in the red. Also, both BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices shed over a percent.
