The S&P BSE Sensex rose 248.84 points (0.40 per cent) to close at 61,872.99 while the Nifty 50 gained 74.25 points (0.41 per cent) to settle at 18,403.40. Both the indices had opened higher earlier in the day but soon pared gains and turned red. They moved in a narrow range through most of the session before inching higher toward the last hour of trade. On the Sensex pack, Power Grid Corporation of India, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Statae Bank of India (SBI), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Asian Paints and Titan Company were the top gainers on Tuesday. On the other hand, ITC, Reliance Industries (RIL), Bajaj Finserv, Nestle India and Tata Steel were the top laggards.
