Sensex was up 364.36 points or 0.95% at 38799.08, and the Nifty was up 94.90 points or 0.83% at 11466.50. About 1500 shares have advanced, 1109 shares declined, and 136 shares are unchanged. Zee Entertainment, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance and HDFC Bank were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Power Grid Corp, Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, M&M and Hindalco Industries. Bank, auto, FMCG, metal indices ended higher, while IT and pharma ended in the red. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 0.4 percent and 1.6 percent respectively.
