At close, the Sensex was down 1,022.77 points or 1.32 percent at 76,356.14, and the Nifty was down 344.05 points or 1.47 percent at 23,087.45. Biggest Nifty losers were Trent, Adani Enterprises, Bharat Electronics, BPCL, Power Grid Corp, while gainers included TCS, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and HUL. All the sectoral indices ended in the red.
