The Supreme Court has ruled that calling a person "Miyan-Tiyan" or 'Pakistani' may be in poor taste but does not constitute an offence of hurting religious sentiments under Section 298 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

The top court discharged an accused from charges under this provision, pointing out that the remarks, though inappropriate, did not meet the legal threshold for criminal prosecution.
