In its efforts to give spending push to infra sector and create more jobs, the Union Cabinet today approved mega highway plan to develop about 83,000 km of roads at an investment of Rs 6.9 lakh crore in next 5 years.
According to reports, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to make an announcement regarding the same at 4 pm today. As part of country's biggest highway development plan, government also approved the Phase 1 of Bharatmala project to develop and expand approximately 40,000 km of roads at an investment of Rs 3.5 lakh crore by 2022.
