After granting an urgent hearing, the Supreme Court on Friday stayed the demolition of Curlie's restaurant in Goa, which was linked to the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. The Goa government on Friday morning began demolishing the controversial restaurant at Anjuna in North Goa over violations of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms, an official said.
The top court clarified that only the property identified as plot 42/10, which is the old shack in the restaurant, will not be demolished. It said any other unauthorised construction at Anjuna can be demolished and there is no stay on demolitions in general.
