Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday made his debut speech on the floor of the Rajya Sabha to which he was elected from Gujarat last year. The party president, who initiated the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, today defended the BJP-led government at the Centre on the fourth day of the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament. Shah’s maiden speech in Parliament began by sounding the bugle for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, saying how after 30 years, a party got a full mandate to form the government. “After 30 years, a party got a full mandate to form the government. For the first time after independence, a non-Congress party was given full mandate by the public and it was BJP government led by PM Modi. In spite of getting an absolute majority, we formed the government with NDA members,” he said.
