Massive protests erupted in Maharashtra's Badlapur after two kindergarten girls, aged three and four, were sexually assaulted by a school sweeper. Angry locals vandalised the school and a mob disrupted train services. The protests soon turned violent as stones were thrown and the cops lathicharged the crowd to clear the train tracks.
Meanwhile, internet services were suspended in Badlapur as protests over the sexual assault of children continued.
The complaint says that the incident happened at the school on August 13. One of the girls refused to go to school on August 16, prompting the parents to question their child. They then took the girl to the hospital for tests and the report revealed damage to the girl’s private parts, according to the complaint. "'Dada' (Marathi for brother) took off my clothes and touched private parts," the girl reportedly told her parents.
The parents allege that an FIR was filed 12 hours after they lodged a complaint.
