Army is constructing a new, temporary foot over-bridge (FOB) that connects Elphinstone and Parel stations and by February 2018, Mumbaiites using Elphinstone Road station, where 23 people were killed in a stampede on September 29, will be able to commute more safely. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made this announcement on Tuesday morning as he visited Elphinstone Road station with Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The new bridge will be constructed by the military’s engineering wing, and will be ready for use by end of February 2018.
