Attorney General KK Venugopal has declined to grant consent to initiate contempt proceedings against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh over his tweets criticising the creation of the Special Security Force by Uttar Pradesh government. Venugopal said, "The statements made are wholly uncalled for. However, I do not believe that they merit action for criminal contempt of the Supreme Court of India."
