After Virat Kohli, Team India captain Rohit Sharma also announced retirement from T20 world cricket. Announcing his retirement, he said that there is no better time to say goodbye. Rohit Sharma joined the exclusive company of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni as the third captain to lead India to an ICC World Cup victory. 

Rohit Sharma, however, confirmed that he will continue in ODI & Tests for India. "This was my last game as well," the captain said in his post-match press conference, referring to Virat Kohli's earlier announcement that he will be retiring from T20Is.

Earlier after the match, Virat Kohli had announced his retirement. Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Twenty20 internationals after leading India to a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on Saturday.

Acknowledging his fluctuating form, Kohli added, "One day you feel you can't get a run, then things happen. God is great, and I got the job done for the team on the day it mattered."

Regarding his retirement from T20 internationals, Kohli affirmed during the presentation ceremony, "This was an open secret, it's time for the next generation to take over. Some amazing players will lead the team forward and uphold its pride."
