Gujarat registered 990 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 2,39,195, the state Health Department said. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,262 after 8 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department. The state government claimed the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving with 1,181 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day,taking the total recoveries to 2,24,092.
After a long time, the number of active cases dropped below the 11,000-mark on Thursday.
At present, Gujarat has 10,841 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 66 patients are on ventilator. With significant recoveries in recent times, the COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 93.69 per cent, the release said. With 55,698 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
