Gujarat registered 675 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 2,51,273, the state Health Department said. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,340 after 5 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department. The state government claimed the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving with 851 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the total recoveries to 2,38,965.
After a long time, the number of active cases dropped below the 8,000-mark on Saturday.
At present, Gujarat has 7,968 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 59 patients are on ventilator. With significant recoveries in recent times, the COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 95.10 per cent, the release said. With 47,506 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
