Criticising the Narendra Modi-led Central Government over COVID-19 deaths in India, TMC MP Mahua Moitra tweeted that "56 inches can't mask 56 lakhs". She added, "Lying and stalling data publication doesn't make truth go away." Her comments came after The New York Times report claimed WHO estimated India's death toll to be 40 lakh, nearly eight times the official figure.
