Gujarat registered 535 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 2,54,849, the state Health Department said. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,360 after 3 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department. The state government claimed the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving with 738 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the total recoveries to 2,43,639. After a long time, the number of active cases dropped below the 7,000-mark on Friday. At present, Gujarat has 6,850 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 55 patients are on ventilator. With significant recoveries in recent times, the COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 95.60 per cent, the release said.
