Ahead of the 2017 Grand i10 facelift's official launch, details about its feature additions and the new diesel engine's specifications have surfaced.
According to the leaked details, the 2017 Grand i10 facelift will get a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 74 BHP and 194 Nm of torque. This engine will be replacing the 1.1-litre unit found on the current model that develops 70 BHP and 160 Nm of torque. The new diesel engine has an ARAI-rated fuel economy of 24.4 km/l.
Meanwhile, the petrol variants will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder VTVT engine that makes 82 BHP and 114 Nm of torque. However, Hyundai has made some minor changes to this engine which include adoption of Alternator Management System (AMS), improvement of engine oil viscosity levels, use of low friction bearings in transmission, etc. These changes are claimed to improve the engine's fuel economy by around 4.6%. As a result, the new Grand i10 petrol will be able to deliver a company-claimed economy of 19.77 km/l, as compared to the corresponding figure of 18.9 km/l extracted by the current model.
With the facelift, Hyundai will also be adding some new features to the Grand i10 line-up. The Grand i10 facelift's top-end Astra trim will come with automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & MirrorLink, voice recognition, a reversing camera and LED DRLs placed near the fog lamps. The top-end model will also get a new set of 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the Sportz trim will be offered with a 5-inch basic touchscreen infotainment system.
Cosmetic changes made to the exteriors of the new Grand i10 include a new hexagonal front grille and boomerang-shaped fog lamp housings with chrome detailing on the lower variants and LED DRLs on the top-end trim. The rear bumper has also been tweaked to house a large blacked-out area in the middle. Hyundai is also claiming to have reinforced the car's body for better NCAP safety compliance.
