Gujarat registered 1270 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 2,24,081 on Thursday, while 1,465 patients recovered from the infection, the state Health Department said. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,135 after 12 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department. The state government claimed the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving with 1,465 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day,taking the total recoveries to 2,06,126.
After a long time, the number of active cases dropped below the 14,000-mark on Thursday.
At present, Gujarat has 13,820 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 72 patients are on ventilator. With significant recoveries in recent times, the COVID-19 recovery rate has gone up to 91.99 per cent, the release said. With 60,547 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
