A woman was burnt to death and 11 others hospitalized in a major fire that erupted at the 11-storey Ganesh Genesis residential complex in Gota area of Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon.
The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) cut a sorry figure after the 81-metre-high snorkel, to be used to reach victims on higher floors, failed to operate. Red-faced, the fire officials fought a threehour-long operation to douse the raging flames and rescue nearly 40 persons stuck on the high-rise tower.
